Chess is one of the oldest games still being played. New strategies are being researched almost daily. Chess.com is one of the most popular sites worldwide where one can study and play chess. I don't currently play speed or bullet chess, but I do play games with several days to complete your move. My current rating is 1543 although my highest rating was 1659. I used to play Colle-Zuckertort as a white opening but started losing to the King's Indian defense and my rating fell. I have switched to playing the London opening as White and normally play the French defense as Black. Below is a typical London opening from Eric Rosen's video series.

Another popular site where one can both play and learn is lichess.org. This site is popular with Eric Rosen who is one of my favorite chess personalities. I have a video course from Eric as well as another course from Susan Polgar. I consider myself very lucky to live just outside St. Louis which is the chess capital of the United States and houses the World Chess Hall of Fame. The Saint Louis Chess Club is one of the best in the world.

If you are interested in studying specific chess topics, chessable is a great resource. I love the following beginner to intermediate book on chess. I studied it many years ago when I borrowed it from the Saint Louis Public Library in downtown Saint Louis. I did not remember the name or author of the book and searched for years but did not find it until earlier this year. Although it is written in the old notation, I find it invaluable for anyone just learning tactics. Winning Chess is a winner. Here is a sample from Amazon's look inside the book:

The Botez sisters have a popular chess streaming channel on YouTube. They travel the world and play chess matches that they stream live and then post to YouTube. Their antics brought me back to chess after an extended layoff period. This is a partial promotional picture from their YouTube channel.
