Games to Enjoy
Opening the box, you can see that the pieces are very detailed and the box was well constructed. The game consists of small model biplanes, cards, a gameboard, and other various pieces.
The gameboard is detailed and provides a nice background for the aerial battles. The model planes are placed in each corner with anti-aircraft disks placed on the dots around the planes. There are two hits and two misses. If you decide you want to attack the planes on the ground, you must fly over the anti-aircraft discs and take a 50-50 chance of getting shot down.
Shown here are two planes and cards set on the board. In a dogfight, the highest burst wins. If you are attacked from the side, you need a barrel roll card to escape. If you are attacked from behind, you need a loop card to escape.
Battleship was another of my favorite games growing up. There was a 10 by 10 square matrix on which you placed 5 ships. The rows were labled A-J with the columns numbered 1-10.
You would each take turns calling out a grid location marking misses with white pegs and hits with red pegs. Whoever sunk the other's ships first, won the game.
The final favorite from my childhood is Clue. Clue is a detective game where you must deduce the killer, weapon, and room where a murder took place.
There are cards for each suspect, weapon, and room. These are separated into categories, shuffled, and one suspect, one weapon, and one room card are placed into an envelope before the game starts. The remaining cards are shuffled and dealt out to the players. The players move Their tokens to rooms on the board and make a guess as to who did it, what weapon was used, and must choose the room where their token is located. The other players must show the card secretly to the player making the guess if they have either the person, weapon, or room card. However, they are only required to show one card. All players maintain a sheet marking off the cards in their own hand and any cards shown to them during their guesses. When the player is sure they know the person, weapon and room, they make an accusation and look at the cards in the envelope. If they are correct, they win. Otherwise they lose and the rest of the players keep guessing with the losing player still showing cards in their hand during guesses.
